Winner of the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development 2020
We take great pride in aligning with brands who are leaders in their field and share the same values we do as a business, which is why we’re immensely proud to recognise Hypnos’ latest accolade – receiving the prestigious Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development 2020.
Having manufactured luxury handmade beds for more than 100 years, Hypnos is internationally renowned as the expert in handcrafted pocket spring mattresses, and here’s why their reputation proceeds them and they’re worthy winners of this award.
A decade long commitment
Hypnos have shown a commitment to sustainable production and operation for ten years and this award recognises the ground-breaking sustainable innovations and designs they’ve achieved.
Their beds are amongst the most sustainable in the industry – they’re foam free, 100% recyclable and use only natural and sustainable materials.
Using materials with an origin
Hypnos was the first Carbon Neutral bed manufacturer in the UK and uses traditional skills combined with innovative solutions, making a point of using only the finest natural and sustainable materials.
Not only is their timber certified and sourced from managed forests, but their collaboration with Red Tractor has allowed them to use 100% British wool that’s traceable back to Red Tractor assured farms.
Behind the scenes
Hypnos’ sustainable efforts are everywhere you look, including behind the scenes. As well as being the first bed manufacturer to comply with international carbon neutrality standards, Hypnos installed a biomass heating system to help save around 74 tonnes of carbon a year! So, their green operating practises also played a part in their award win.
If it’s good enough for the Queen
Hypnos has a Royal Warrant, which means that they not only provide bespoke beds to the Royal Family, but also advise them on sleep and wellbeing.
