My Perfect Bedtime

This week, we caught up our Retail Marketing Manager, Nike, who told us all about her #myperfectbedtime choices.

What’s your perfect bedtime routine?

I have a cool shower and make sure my bedroom window is open, I’m always hot! My mind is permanently active, so before I go to bed I like some time to unwind and switch off. I tend to relax with a good book in bed, I find that this in itself helps me sleep. I also write down any reminders for the next day so my ‘to do’ list isn’t humming around my head.

What’s your perfect bedtime read?

One of my favorite novels is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This simple story, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy Santiago who feels there is more to life than his humble home and flock. He travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. What starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within. The book tells a beautiful parable about learning to listen to your heart, and, above all, follow your dreams.

What or who is your perfect bedtime partner?

As my husband works nights, I am used to sleeping by myself in the week, so I am my perfect sleeping partner, no noise, lots of room - bliss. At the weekends when Dave is home, cuddling in bed is a major plus, however, the snoring and the duvet wrestling is a major negative.

What’s your perfect nightwear?

I love throwing on my comfy jim-jams when I get in from work. Cotton or silk, as long as they are lightweight and soft I’m happy.

Where would be your perfect place to fall asleep?

The Leela Kovalam Beach Hotel in Kerala. I have fond memories of my room there, it had a fabulous ocean view and the sound of crashing waves never grew tiresome.

Where would be your perfect destination to wake up?

Next to the The Leela Beach it would have to be my own bedroom. I recently gave my bedroom a makeover, and I LOVE my bed and the comfort of my own sheets, pillows cushions and throws, although my husband tends to propel the cushions to the floor.

What’s your perfect kind of bed?

My gorgeous Oliver bed but more importantly my Byron mattress (both from F&B obviously), the only complaint I have is it’s so difficult to get out of bed in the morning!
