How to: Sleep better during exam season
Students across the country are right in the middle of exam season and might be starting to feel under pressure to get the grades their hard work deserves. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential if you want to perform at your best and so here are a few helpful tips to help you along the way:
Late night TV just isn’t worth it on the eve of an exam, you’d be better off drifting off to sleep a little earlier than usual. Sleep is especially important during studying because it allows the brain to arrange the information you’ve already absorbed during the day.

Lying awake at night is often caused by caffeinated food and drink, so things like chocolate, coffee and fizzy drinks are best avoided.
Put your phone away in another room for the night to avoid being distracted during the night. Electronic devices emit noise and light; both of which will stop you sleeping.
- Make the bedroom a place of rest
This one may sound simple, but not revising in bed has its benefits. Your brain needs to associate the bedroom with a resting place; not a place where you continue to study books or check emails.
