Spring Interior Trends 2014
From hair to the home, the ombre trend was everywhere in 2013 and that looks set to continue into spring 2014. Whether you want to paint a wall ombre or indulge in bedlinens and other accessories that illustrate the trend; there are a variety of ways to incorporate spring's must-have style into your bedroom. Below is a sneak peak of our Houston Chest on a beautifully bright green ombre wall. The mix of the darker leather trunks, botanical accessories and accents of white keep the whole look feeling fresh, which is perfect for spring.
The ombre trend doesn’t have to be confined to one colour going from lighter to darker, hues of multiple colours can be incorporated. Spring 14 will see soft pastel shades flow into brighter hues. Team this look with white furniture and bedding to give the trend the wow factor.
Colour expert Pantone will always be a key influence in what hues and tones will appear throughout the season, in fashion and interiors. 2013 saw emerald reign as colour of the year and this year that honour falls on radiant orchid. They describe the purple hue as expressive, creative and embracing, which supposedly blooms with confidence and magical warmth – we’ll leave you decide whether that’s the truth!
This bright colour is a great way to create focus in a room. Re-energise palettes of grey and beige with accents of radiant orchid or compliment with tones of green or light yellow.
While lighter colours are normally associated with spring, this year dark walls in hues of black and dark blue are making dramatic appearances. Invoking glamour and drama these moody backdrops are perfect for extenuating metallic accessories and glassware. We love how our Gatsby collection perfectly captures this trend. The mirrored accents on a dark wall are bound to make a statement.
It wouldn’t be spring unless pastels made an appearance. Tones of baby blue, soft sunshine yellow and misty grey teamed with glassware will create a room that perfectly captures the waning winter light. Our Oliver bed in duck egg teamed with our range of pastel coloured cushions in the photo below perfectly expresses this beautiful pastel trend.
