One day a little blonde girl appears mysteriously from the woods, running through the trees a replacement for the snow child they built the night before. Inspired Style…November Here is a roundup of the things we love this month from colours to food and fragrances.... All that glitters ain’t just gold; we love bronze, brass and mercurial silvers too! The key to the metallic trend is to mix shades together for a vintage inspired look. Style tea light holders with antique silver accessories to bring a warm glow to the home, and team trinkets and treasures together for a beautiful look for your dressing table. For Christmas, give your home the Midas touch and add sparkles and rich golds throughout. Blending two of the Orient's most...

Kids trend: Dinosaurs

Every Christmas there is always a new fad, trend, gadget or toy that is on every Christmas list. Think back to the ones which were top of your list – I remember being desperate for a Furby only to be tired of looking after it by New Year’s Eve. Then there are the classic characters and toys which appear on children’s letters to Father Christmas year after year. Of these timeless favourites - the playful dinosaur is one of our favourites…it is also a big trend for kids this season. Encourage kids’ creativity and imagination with fun dinosaur crafts to...

Hallowe'en Pumpkins

In preparation for Halloween tomorrow, why not create a pumpkin lantern with the kids? Carving pumpkins is a messy and fun way to spend the afternoon, and is a great decoration for any parties you might be throwing for Halloween over the half term. I popped together a few simple instructions and pictures of how we made ours: 1) Cut the top off their pumpkins with a sharp knife (you should probably do this bit to avoid any injuries – fake blood is perfect for Halloween real blood is not!) 2) Be prepared for the smell, we didn’t realise it...

Cosy Corners

As autumn is upon us and the nights draw in so begins the annual season of softness - why not indulge in cosy textures and create little nooks around your home to curl up in? Sometimes I wish I could hibernate to escape the colder chill – as an alternative I have put together some ideas to create small reading corners around the home to cosy up under a throw in. The Arundel chair with its soft curves is simple and elegant. We love the chair in this light shade of grey, it works well with accents of white and...

Taupe-tastic mood board

Who says beige is boring? I can't think of any other colour that has so much variety in shade or so many different names: taupe, biscuit, buff, fawn, ecru, oatmeal, sand and café au lait, to name just a few. I love all neutrals and natural shades and layering my home with a meld of neutral tones helps it to feel warm and inviting. At home I have a taupe upholstered sofa, a beige rug, and neutral cushions and throws, and I love the way the colours complement the natural tones of my wooden furniture pieces. As a graphic designer,...

Creating our upholstered beds

I went to visit our upholsterers today, based in Northumberland I took the train from London and made the journey up to where all our upholstery is made. The building is a beautiful big stone house, where everything is made lovingly by hand using all British materials. The process is very creative and it's magical watching a bed put together in front your your very eyes. The skilled craftsmen make it seem so easy, from cutting the wood, scoring the fabric, sewing, pinning and buttoning, the amount of work that goes into making one of our beds is truly amazing....

Childrens bedroom inspiration: A Mural

Our lovely friend Suzie and her beautiful daughter Lola designed and painted a mural in little Lola’s bedroom- we love it! Have a read and be inspired to add some colour to cream bedroom walls... The cream wall provided the perfect blank canvas for Lola’s big tree design – incorporating fresh green leaves and pretty birds tweeting in the branches. Suzie sketched the design on to the wall and then they made sure that the carpet was covered in case of any paint spills. Once the dark brown trunk of the tree was carefully painted by Lola (with a little...

It is essential to avoid big meals, brandies and espressos before bedtime. Instead try a chamomile tea or Horlicks for something much more soothing. The day starts with the lovely team setting the scene; stylists are ironing and steaming the bed linen, while Tim (the photographer) and his assistant work out the lighting to create a cosy atmosphere for the shoot. The models Jonna and Richard are in make-up, not that they need it, and after a few test shots they're in position for the shoot.
