Our Terms and Conditions

Feather & Black and The Iron Bed Company are trading names of Feather & Black Limited. The registered office of Feather & Black Limited is Estate Office,Ravenstone Hall,Ashby Road,Ravenstone,Leicestershire,LE67 2AA. Company Registration No. 5605548. VAT Registration No. 870 6384 07.

These terms & conditions of trading apply to all contracts between Feather & Black Limited ('us, we, our') and the customer ('you, your'). References to 'furniture' include beds, chairs, chests and all other furniture.

  1. Product
    1. All goods are subject to availability.
    2. All descriptions of our products are correct at the time of publication. We have a policy of continuous product development and reserve the right to amend the specification of products without prior notice in relation to future sales.
    3. Beds and Mattresses are sold separately. All bed prices shown do not include a mattress.
    4. All wood species react to sunlight and changes in temperature and humidity. Specifically, cherry wood darkens with exposure to sunlight and walnut gets lighter with exposure to sunlight. Oak reacts least to sunlight and will not change significantly in colour. Changes in temperature and humidity can cause solid wood to warp or split.
    5. Wood and leather are natural products and will vary in colour. Leather may not be uniform in colour or texture and may show natural marks and scars on the hides.
    6. Leathers and fabrics may fade with exposure to direct sunlight.
    7. Our mattresses are made to order and are handmade so there is a 2cm tolerance on all sides on sizing.
  2. Measurements
    1. All measurements in our brochure are rounded up to the nearest whole centimetre. Every care is taken to ensure all descriptions and measurements are correct at the time of publication. We retain the right to alter measurements and specifications without prior notice.
    2. Please note that mattress sizes can vary slightly from dimensions given when new. After a little use they will spread to full size.
  3. Pricing
    1. Our pricing includes VAT and we reserve the right to adjust the VAT if it changes. Prices are correct at the time of going to press, although they may change over time.
    2. In the unlikely event that the price of an item has been incorrectly advertised, we will contact you to ask whether you wish to proceed with the order at correct price. If you are not happy to proceed, or we are unable to obtain your instructions, we will cancel the order. Unless we have already confirmed dispatch of your order, we will not be obliged to supply products at the incorrect price.
  1. Guarantees
    1. If you find the same bed or furniture selling for less in another shop in the UK we will match the price.
    2. All our furniture and mattresses come with a 3 year construction guarantee. This excludes goods purchased from our clearance sections or ex-display items. This guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear; neglect, abuse or misuse of your goods.
    3. Our guarantees 4.1 to 4.2 do not cover goods removed from mainland UK.
    4. The above guarantees are in addition to, and do not affect, your statutory rights.
  2. Cancellations / Amendments
    1. For stock items we are happy to accept cancellations at any time and refund in full.
    2. We regret we cannot accept cancellations on orders that are made specifically for you. This includes upholstered items and mattresses that have been made to order. Bespoke items are indicated as such on your order confirmation, all other items are indicated as stock. We are happy to amend your order during the first 7 days after the order has been placed. After this time, and once your goods are in production, we cannot accept cancellation or amendments.
  3. Payment
    1. For all furniture orders we request a 25% deposit at the time of ordering with the balance to be paid 14 days before delivery. We will contact you to take the remaining balance prior to arranging your delivery. If you are using our finance option, the deposit at the time of ordering is 10% on stock items and 25% on bespoke items.
    2. We cannot deliver to your home until payment has been received in full or finance has been approved.
    3. We offer finance options (licensed credit brokers, subject to status). Details are available in our showrooms. Finance agreements expire after 90 days so you might need to re-apply if delivery is not completed within this time.
    4. Payment will be required in full at the time of ordering for all mattresses or non furniture items.
    5. We require payment in full at the time of placing a Fast Track order.
  4. Furniture Delivery/ Returns
    1. We will give you an estimated delivery time at the time your order is placed. The date will depend on stock availability and is usually within 8 weeks.
    2. Our standard delivery charges are for mainland England, Scotland and Wales. Delivery charges for islands will be quoted on an individual basis.
    3. Our delivery service includes a two man delivery to a room of your choice. Assembled furniture will be unpacked and all packing materials removed. The majority of our furniture comes full assembled, the main exception being beds and wardrobes which require simple assembly. In the event you would like us to assemble your bed or wardrobe we offer a full assembly service for an additional £25, regardless of order size.
    4. Our delivery partners will arrange delivery of your goods with you personally. Unfortunately it is not always possible to give you a timed appointment but wherever possible we will endeavour to meet your requirements.
    5. Please be aware that we cannot move or dismantle existing furniture or other items, and ensure that the location for your order is clear for our crew to access and work in. However, do not dispose of your old bed or mattress until your new one arrives. We will not be held accountable should you be left without a bed or mattress.
    6. On receipt of your furniture or mattress, it is important that you fully check that all items are in good condition. You will be asked to sign the delivery note to confirm this.
    7. In the event that a fault is discovered, you should notify us immediately and in any case not later than 7 days after you received your furniture or mattress.
    8. In the event we are unable to complete a delivery because of access constraints to and/or in the building we reserve the right to charge for the furniture, mattress and any delivery costs in full. It is your responsibility to advise us at the time of ordering of any non-standard delivery circumstances that may apply.
    9. If for any reason you are not happy with your furniture please notify us within 7 days of receipt and we will arrange for a collection and refund. Unfortunately we have to make an exception for bespoke and upholstered items (which include mixed tension mattresses and custom made upholstery pieces) made specifically for you. These bespoke items cannot be returned unless faulty.  Goods purchased from our clearance sections or ex display items are non-returnable. Also for hygiene reasons mattresses cannot be returned once the packaging has been removed.
    10. Bespoke items include upholstered beds, headboards, valances, upholstered chairs, mattresses made specifically to a customer's tension requirement.
    11. We cannot be held responsible for delays caused by manufacturers or carriers.
    12. We make every effort to meet the estimated delivery date stated on the order form, however we will not accept any liability for any consequential loss.
    13. There may be a longer wait for delivery to Scotland.
    14. Delivery of smaller furniture items on their own will be undertaken by our courier service will only be delivered to your door and not unpacked unless you request at the time of ordering.
    15. We cannot drill into your walls to attach fixings such as wall mounted headboards, wall straps on storage units etc.
    16. In the event that you are unable to take delivery on the day arranged, 48 hours notice of delivery cancellation must be given. Failure to do so may result in additional charges being applied to you.
    17. Cancellations of our assembly service must be notified 48 hours before delivery commences.  If sufficient notice is not given, assembly charges will not be refunded.

  5. Storage
    1. All furniture and mattresses must be delivered into your home within 21 days of us contacting you to arrange delivery. We can store your furniture and mattress beyond this 3 week period, provided the balance has been paid in full, but storage charges, payable in advance, will be incurred. Storage is charged at 2.5% of your order value for every additional week stored.
    2. If you do not arrange to take delivery of your furniture within 4 months of you being notified that your furniture is available for delivery, we reserve the right to cancel your order, retaining 50% of the order value.
  1. Linen & Accessories Deliveries
    1. Delivery to mainland UK is free on bedlinen, bedding, cushions, throws, lighting and accessories for orders over £25. For orders under the value of £25 the delivery charge is £3.95.
    2. Standard Delivery (Monday to Friday only). Please allow 5 days for delivery.
    3. We can quote separately for deliveries to non-mainland UK.
    4. Delivery of linens and accessories will be undertaken by our courier service will only be delivered to your door and not unpacked.


10. Linen & Accessories Returns

  1. We hope that you will be delighted with your purchase from us, however you do have 7 days to return any unwanted bed linen, bedding, nightwear and accessories. There are 2 options you can choose from below. Please note that unless an item is found to be faulty we expect all returned items for refund to be returned to us with their original packaging. Goods purchased from our clearance sections or ex display items are non-returnable.
  2. Return to store: You can take your items along with your order number and receipt to any of our stores nationwide where we can process your return or exchange. If you do wish to exchange an item it might be best to call the store first to make sure they have stock of the item you would like to exchange for.
  3. Arrange a collection: If you cannot get to a store, please call the customer service team on 01243 380 601 or email us at returns@featherandblack.com. We will arrange with you a suitable date and address for collection. Once the goods are received and are confirmed to be unused and with their original packaging, we will refund the value of the goods.   4. Please allow 14 days for us to process your refund once the goods have been received by us.

 

11. Variation of Terms

  1. Our store staff have no authority to vary these terms and conditions of sale.
