Denim in Decor
If ‘jeans represent democracy in fashion’ as Armani said, the spill over of denim this year from clothing to interiors will not be a passing fad. The migration ‘from catwalk to couch’ may not yet have reached the ‘denim on denim’ peak that it has in fashion, but using denim colours and fabric to bring informal cool to interiors is about to take-off big time!
It is no coincidence that Farrow & Ball launched Stiffkey Blue last year which went straight on to becoming one of the key sellers of 2015. Although it also retains a traditional feel, Stiffkey incorporates denim’s signature strong blue hues which ensure it looks good with contemporary interiors in much the same way that denim looks good on a catwalk.
With blue and white colour schemes already one of the most popular combinations for interiors, denim’s cool look has had a very warm reception. As an interior colour and fabric, it’s definitely here to stay. Happily for anyone scared of committing, a big part of its attraction has always been the easy way it combines with other colours and styles.
