London Fashion Weekend

I spent a fabulous Sunday at Somerset House for London Fashion Weekend - the closest I could get to London Fashion Week. It was lovely to see so many unique collections and designs, I fell in love with so many frocks and pretty shirts- they were beautiful. The vintage quarter was especially mesmerising- the exhibitors were in little pockets, like caves full of unique treasures. The catwalk showcased the key trends for spring/ summer. There was a hazy pastel palette - Prim Rose - a mix of sorbet with clean white and styled to be prim and proper. A huge trend this season…but I’m saving that for another blog post. Then there was Antipodium’s collection and this did not disappoint either with more natural hues combined with a mix of prints from ditsy flowers to bold stripes…all incredibly wearable. Is there a better way to spend a Sunday, surrounded by beautiful clothes, an inspiring catwalk and having fun with your best friend? I will leave with you some pictures… Love Holly x p.s images from the catwalk are from Vodafone London Fashion Weekend Facebook Page

A Lovely Chat With Homes & Interiors Scotland - Gabriella Bennett

This week we had the chance to catch up with the lovely Gabriella Bennett, editorial assistant at Homes & Interiors Scotland for a quick chat about trends, fashion & breakfast in bed… Homes & Interiors Scotland always inspires us with the next big trends, what do you predict will be a big trend in bedrooms this Spring/Summer? This season we’re predicting big things in the bedroom for the ‘modular’ trend as well as ‘ Victoriana ’. By incorporating modular furniture into a room, you can anticipate the need for change easily and take away units to give the space a fresh feeling. Victoriana is also experiencing something of a comeback as the vintage look becomes more popular. Think lace parasols, iron bedsteads and dark wood for a traditionally stylish bedroom What colours do you think work best in a bedroom? Grey is great for bedrooms, as it provides a soothing background in a space designed for sleep and relaxation. Add accents of cobalt blue and yellow to help keep things contemporary. What is your favorite Feather & Black bed? The Feather & Black Henrietta bespoke bed brings a true touch of luxury into the boudoir – velvet is a great...

Starry Night

Just a quick post to treat you all to some snaps of the starry night performance of ‘Stories Before Bedtime’ at the Criterion Theatre. Our Feather & Black bed was styled to look rough and rugged to fit in with the dark vintage set. The accompanying cast of Russell Tovey & Sarah Soleman i (Him & Her), Niamh Cusack (Beatrix Potter) and Tom Hiddleston (Warhorse) were such beauties and their storytelling was simply mesmerising. We, in the Feather & Black Office, are literally swooning at Tom Hiddleston looking dishevelled - and to see him photographed this weekend at London Fashion Week on the front row of Mulberry’s AW12 Catwalk makes him even more desirable…. I love a man who shares my love of Mulberry! Enjoy the pics… Love Holly X

Say Hello To David The Dinosaur

As a child my favourite part of bedtime was curling up underneath my duvet to listen to my Dad read me a story every night. As I grew older the roles reversed and I began reading my treasured stories to my Dad - I loved books which could be read to me and eventually, I could grow into and read myself. The characters from my bedtime stories fuelled my imagination, playtime and my dreams. Feather & Black’s first childrens book ‘David the Dinosaur’ is perfect for little ones to enjoy, grow into, and read themselves. ‘David the Dinosaur’ will capture little ones imagination with its beautiful illustrations and fun rhyming style. The naughty dinosaur David has a tantalizing addiction to bad food choices…namely eating young boys…has he bitten off more than he can chew? I don’t want to spoil the plot! It is the perfect story for bedtime, especially if it’s read while wearing our David the Dinosaur PJ’s and snuggled underneath our Dino Bed Linen set . ‘David the Dinosaur’ is written by our managing Director Adam Black. He wrote the rhyme inspired by his four young boys who hated bedtime, not expecting it to become anything more than...

I am so excited to announce that… drum roll please … our Sebastian Bed, originally created for Good Homes Magazine , is making Feather & Black’s first ever stage debut in ‘ Stories Before Bedtim e’ at the Criterion Theatre in London. The spotlight will be on our unequivocally beautiful bed as it stars alongside a fabulous cast including Tom Hiddleston ( Warhorse, Thor) and Russell Tovey and Sarah Solemani ( Him & He r ). I am looking forward to hearing bedtime stories on an Anti-Valentine’s day theme, I dont think I should expect to hear any happily ever after’s… We think our bed with the bright canary pattern, vivid coral blossom and washes of greens and blues is the perfect antithesis to the potentially darker themes of the play. Come and watch our Bespoke Sebastian bed at the Criterion Theatre, London on Friday 10 th February at 10.30pm. We hope that our bed won’t steal the show…Hollywood here we come! See you there Love Holly x P.S If you love our Sebastian Bed but are not looking for a pattern quite as bold, you can choose a more subtle natural shade with our Standard Fabric Collection.

Inspiration: Spring Floral's

Feather & Black’s New Florence Bed Linen , is on trend as floral is set to dominate the catwalk and interiors again this Spring/Summer 2012. Boost the colour in your bedroom with this bright, lively floral design. The white background provides an ethereal and innocent canvas for the soft blue, pink and green tones. The watercolour brush stroke style softens the print and creates a look reminiscent of spring days and colourful meadows. The Florence has a timeless appeal that will last long past the season to stand the test of time. It is beautifully soft and we think it looks fabulous dressed on our Oliver Warm White bed for a simple, vintage style or the Florence could be styled with our Pallio bed for a delicate, airy and beautiful bedroom. To complete the look accessorise with Everyday Blue and Blush Cushions , our new Rowan pleated cushions in light pink and soft blue (coming soon) and a vase of fresh Blossom. The Great British Breakfast In Bed Tradition

Breakfast in Bed - an indulgent and luxurious Sunday morning tradition full of romance or a rare occasion involving bickering over who has to get up, crumbs in the sheets and spilt tea? I am a hopeless romantic and love enjoying my most important meal of the day between the sheets - I consider it one of life’s little luxuries. Maybe it’s because I have grown up with the tradition, being part of my parent’s weekly Sunday Morning squabble about whose turn it is to make the tea and bring it to bed with the biscuits. Apparently breakfast in bed is a dying tradition, one which has become a rare celebration for a special occasion. I love any excuse to lounge in bed and I fear for the demise of this luxury treat …what if it stops altogether? It would entirely destroy my weekend. My Sunday is planned around indulging in egg with soldiers, all without moving from under my super soft bed linen . Here at the Feather & Black office we have been recounting the weekend’s antics which already seem so long ago. It would seem that breakfast in bed is indeed an extravagance to ‘oohh’ at, especially...
